Every week I show up announced (meaning I sent an email letting them know ill be stopping by) or un-announced to potential customers. This has helped add money to my commission check each quarter.
If I get stone walled at the front desk I leave a little note and follow up with an email. This leads to more calls back and meetings set. Putting yourself out in the (real, not virtual ) sales world sets you apart from your competitors. In sales no matter how good the product you are selling claims to be, the differentiator is usually yourself.
Be different, be onsite and your potential and current clients will appreciate the breath of fresh air.
